“Lo, I see four men loose”

“He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” – King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:25)

I started reading the book of Daniel this morning, and I wanted to share something with you which I found encouraging. Nothing new…but nevertheless good to be reminded of in these days.

Three men – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – were cast into the fiery furnace for obeying God rather than man (in this case, King Nebuchadnezzar) But we know the three men were protected and saved, by a fourth personage. There has been debate whether this fourth personage was a pre-incarnate visitation of the Lord Jesus Christ, or whether an angel sent by God – but either way, what we can say for sure is that God protected his three servants in a most powerful and remarkable way.

If you are “in Christ” today, truly saved and trusting Christ as your only Saviour, then be fully assured, God will be with you and protect you in ALL circumstances. Afterall, seeing He gave you His beloved Son to die for your very sins and the “very worst” of you, do you imagine He will ever leave you?

In these days of corona virus, I will admit that occasionally I have considered the “worst case” scenario I could face; namely, dying alone in a hospital bed, with no friends or family allowed to be with me. But if I ever do find myself in such a situation – or if you ever do – then surely we can have that quiet confidence, and pray out to the Lord to keep us as He did the three Hebrew men in the furnace – and my friends, rest assured He most assuredly will.
